A Busy Month With Lots of Things to Do!

It's the end of September.  It was a busy month.  I thought about blogging often but did I get around to it?  Only in my dreams!

So what happened?  Well, work changed DRASTICALLY.  We lost a lot of our workers to other departments and/or retirements.    Barbara retired, Baerbel and Sylvie and Paola were moved and that left Heidi and myself to man the "store". (so to speak)  It also changed our late shifts from 1-9 pm to 11-7 pm.  And without Sylvie, I have to work all the late Thursdays.  Heidi is going on vacation soon and that will leave me.  We have missionaries, too, but staff is indeed small now... So it will be interesting to see how things work out.  I will be teaching 3 Polish classes this month.  It was supposed to be Sylvie teaching 2 or them, but again, with her new assignment, I now have them all.  And lots of our assignments have changed as to what we do on an average day.  It has been somewhat stressful and hopefully we will adjust or some things will be adjusted.  Well, that's it for work.  Now on to other things.

 Jamie had a birthday too.  September is a big birthday month in the family.  Jake has one, too. But I don't have any pics of his.  Sorry Jake!

 This guy got a handsome haircut.  He has also definitely grown a "Foot or two"!

 Ty is also in football, but is playing "Flag" football.  He did really well and made a major touchdown run in Lehi running from the opposing team's 5 yard line all the way to the goal on the other end of the field.  Talk about excitement and a proud grandma!

A little more football action!  Yeah, it's been a busy month, but now it's almost October, one more day to go!  And then I will have one of those icky mile-stone birthdays.   Yuch....

New "Tradition"?

Yes, it has been a while since I last posted.  I keep meaning to...and then life gets in the way!

Today was Sunday and in the afternoon we did something that I have been doing each Sunday afternoon.  Homemade ice cream!  And it's easy, few ingredients, all organic and healthy. 

Brecklyn and Ty helped today.  I bought this little ice cream maker at the end of last summer, 2012, at Costco.  It was the last one and it appears they were trying to get rid of it.  So it was CHEAP.  I would call it a steal... because I priced it and the cheapest I could find it for anywhere was $60.00.  It takes about 30 minutes to make the best ice cream ever.

We made a little mess along the way, but it was fun, none-the-less.  Today's flavor was mini mint-chocolate chip.

So I Have Been a Bit Lazy...And About being a Mormon in Freiberg/Sachsen

It is getting harder to post on my blog as it seems there is always something else that needs doing.  So today I decided that I would try to post something.  My aunt has sent my mom some old pictures from her youth in Freiberg/Sachsen and I have scanned them and given scans to other interested friends from the Freiberg Mormon community who are now living in Salt Lake City.  They were excited to see them and so I thought I would share some more.  A friend, Ulrike Hegewald, who is also from this place mentioned that she will help me identify people, so that is in the works. And I am sure my dad can also help.   But in the meantime, here are some pictures.  Thanks Tante Ruth for bringing back some old memories for many people.

This must be a favorite place back in Freiberg, because I have seen many pictures of this.  I don't know how far it is to the ground, but I wouldn't want to fall over the edge. Wonder what's down below?  I see my parents and Ruth.

Sometimes I think it is amazing that we can now so easily scan pictures and preserve them.  Cool!

The sign on the pulpit was stitched by the mother of the Hegewalds.  This was told to me by Ulrike, the daughter.  It says Liebet Euch, Love one another.

This must be a group of the young women from Freiberg.  They look like a happy bunch.  I think that they probably were all very close in the church  in Freiberg and built strong relationships one to another.  I get that feeling because my parents are still in touch with those now in Utah and those that they knew that are still living in Germany.  I think its nice!  I like to do the same with my Minnesota friends of my early life.

Football Season Begins

Logan is a little "Clay Mathews" Jr.  He loves football.  Watching the Green Bay Packers or "being" a GB Packer, it's all fun for Logan.  Yesterday they had their first official game.  They won 22-0.  I guess that's a good start to the season.

Great Grandpa Nish turns 90

Although he birthday is the end of the month, we had the party at the beginning because of school starting for many of the kids, making it not easy to travel to Vegas from various locations.  So I didn't write anything last week about it, because I was pretty busy and also didn't feel all that great.  So I didn't accomplish as much as I would have liked.  So, we went down on Thursday the 1st of August and stayed till Sunday.  Thursday we caravanned with Jamie and the kids.  And then got to Las Vegas about 4:00 in the afternoon.  We had dinner at "801" a Hawaiian BBQ place not too far from the N.Las Vegas Hampton Inn.  It was OK, but not my favorite place.  Spencer liked it.  So that was good.

The next day we ate here again, but this time most of the family was here and so it was a bigger group.  Jamie and Jake and their kids met Chad and new wife and their kids and had dinner instead.  Afterwards we went to Spencer's dad's place and got together.  The big party was Saturday afternoon.  Here are pictures:
