SPEAKING OF DINOSAURS! Combining Baseball and Vacations!

Well from June 4-6 we went to Vernal for a combined baseball/vacation trip.  I hadn't been up in the Eastern part of Utah in ages.  I have a friend that lives in the town next to Vernal.  We are here together at her house in the side yard.  Spence was hoping her husband would be there but he was called into work at Wyoming, unexpectedly.  So it was the three of us.

Adalee and I have known each other since I was probably in Jr. High, about 7th grade or so.  She and I would do just about everything together as we went to the same church.

We had a really nice visit and also went to lunch in Roosevelt at the Frontier Grill.  We all had the salad bar and a scone.  It was fun and I hope that it won't be so long in between visits next time.  Honestly I don't remember the last time, but I think that she was at our home last time.  So I guess that made it my turn!

As we entered Adalee's town of Roosevelt, we saw our FIRST REAL DINOSAUR!  YES WE DID!

Yes, it was a real DRIVEINTOSAURUS!  I couldn't believe it!  I was even more surprised to see that it was still operational.  Wow!

Then we went to the Vernal Temple.  It was really cute.  Much smaller than in American Fork, I'd say!

Saw some really pretty scenery along our way.  Jamie was surprised about the red rock.  But it was here, too!

Spencer calls this the "Ponderosa".  I guess it's appropriate.

This little baby elk was left on the wrong side of the road.  Mom and friends had crossed and he was standing there as we stopped to take a picture of him.  Is he not sweet?

Getting close to the dam.

 In his element.

 Intensity.

 A little muscrat love.
 Flaming Gorge dam.

We parked in the "Senior" section.
We went to the Dinosaur Museum in Vernal.  It was fun.  Fast to go through and I think it would have been lots of fun for Grayson because there were lots of kid things to do.

We also went to the Dinosaur National Monument.  It was awesome.  I couldn't believe how many bones there were in this rock wall that is surrounded by the building.

 I'm touching real dino bones!
This dino's head is smaller than mine.  And now for the main reason we were here!

They won their first game.  They lost their second game. :(
But they won the third game!  and they won the fourth game and the Silver championship.

Ty is the 2nd row, third from the right.  And he was the STAR!  In the beginning of the game, we ended up way behind them...sigh.  It started not so good, but then they started to rally and were 1 run down.  That remained that way for a few innings.  Then Tyson hit a nice RBI and we were tied,.  The next batter got our third out.  Then we were tied for a while and the clock ran out and we had last bats.  Bases were loaded.  No outs.  And Tyson was up to bat and hit a huge hit and it went over the head of the center fielder and he got a walk in double or whatever it was called.  It was soooo exciting!  That was what we needed to win the game.  Then we drove home and got into rough weather in Heber and quite a bit of rain.  I was amazed that the games had no rain.  Too cool!

It was a wonderful few days and I enjoyed everything and did everything on my Vernal bucket list!

Muskrat Love

Today Spence and I decided to take our new van for a little spin.  First we went to RCWilley's and picked up a clock.  We had received a gift card from them in the mail.  So it was free.  The we drove out to Vivian Park in Provo Canyon.  Spence took his rod and reel and I got to watch.  The weather was wonderful and there was a nice cool breeze.  While he was fishing we saw this cute little guy:

Spencer said he was a muskrat.  Remember that old song, Muskrat Love.  I could never figure that one out, but he is really cute..so can I adopt him and bring him home??? I have a bathtub.  I can fill it up...
Maybe not. Oh well.
The Heber Creeper was there when we arrived and getting return to return to Heber.
Spencer tried and tried but he caught nothing...so since there was no fish, we would have to stop for food on the way home...oh dear.
It was a beautiful, sunny, clear day.  Not a cloud in the sky.

There were cabins for sale.  Should we get one??? I think I like it here--alot !!
It is a nice place to take your family...
Come on in, the water's fine--If you are a fish, that is...
No, fish, time to go and our little van awaits us. It looks as though it is smiling.  It is a "she" by the way.  A real grammamobile.  With all the trimmings...

A drive through South Fork Road ( I know all the road names now because of the GPS) has a beautiful viewpoint of Mt. Timpanogos.  Utah is beautiful and the S. Fork Road had gorgeous scenery, lots of recreation areas, picnic areas and was so fun to see.
Bridal Veil Falls was a pretty sight to see, also.
But as I mentioned, we caught zero fish  (I hate fish...so who cares) but we were hungry and so...

Chicken Teriyaki at Yamato's for me  and Beef Teriyaki and gyoza for Spence.  No one left hungry.  It was just a nice day.
Tonight is the "walk about".  I think I will take my camera!
