The Sea Shells

Logan and Tyson had a second dinner at our house tonight.  I had made spagetti but used some shell macaroni instead.  Logan  asked what they were.  I just said they were shells.  He was sooo surprised.  "Are they real?"  I thought I would play along and said, "Yes, they are real".
Logan replied, "Oh, I see, you cook 'em real good and then they aren't hard anymore."  "That's right," I answered.

Logan looked at me thoughtfully and asked, "But can you still hear the ocean?"

I had no answer...

On Losing Weight and Health!

1. If walking is good for your health - the postman would be immortal.

2. A whale swims all day, only eats fish, drinks only water and is still fat.

3. A rabbit runs and hops all the time and only lives for 15 years.

4. A turtle doesn't run, or do any of the things the others named here do, yet lives for 450 years..

5. I rest my case

Grandma Hair

Brecklyn was over this morning.  She went and found a hair comb and asked me if I had ever used it before.  I said, "Yes, I have".  She replied, "Oh, then if I use it, will I get grandma hair?"

A Bumper Crop of Popcorn!

Yes, Logan has a plan for this year's garden!  Popcorn!  After popping the popcorn and finding some "old maids" he wanted to save them for the garden.  So, out in the hot August sun, watch out this summer!  There will be lots of poppin' going on out there!

Logan

At church Sunday Logan was supposed to give a little talk.  Jamie told him to tell Spence and I about it.  He came up to us and said, "grandpa, do you have a dollar, my mom said!"  Spence and I weren't sure what that was all about, not knowing he was to tell us about the talk.  Then he came again, "I have a talk today, do you have a dollar?"

So we are guessing this kid will do ANYTHING for a dollar!

Those Precious Childhood Memories!

Yes, we all have them, those first things we remember.  My first memory was of moving to our home in Elmore, Minnesota as I was about 4 or 5 years old.  I was outside in the front yard riding my little tricycle--a now non-existent riding toy.  Anyway, my English was quite limited as we hadn't lived in America all that long.  I spotted a girl across the street.  She had dark hair and kept saying things to me, none of which I could understand.  What did she want from me???  As things progressed, she and I somehow got together with our two very different languages and became playmates as we were both the same age.  Through playing together, I managed to pick up English and by the time Kindergarten started, it wasn't even a problem.  I had that language down.

Well, yesterday as Brecklyn drove with me to my hair appointment, we talked about our soon-to-be little "stayvacation" activities for the upcoming week.  Brecklyn said that Logan was sooo excited to be going on the Heber Creeper Train because he wasn't able to when we went two summers ago when Brecklyn was three.  I asked her what she remembered and if she had liked doing that.  Oh yes, she said, I remember it very well.  I asked what she remembered about it.  Well, she said, we got off the train (at Vivienne Park in Provo Canyon) and I stepped in dog-poo in my flip flops and you had to clean me up.  Boy what a remembrance, not what I expected at all!  Anyway, after she reminded me, I remembered that incident too.  So, let's not forget to take the baby wipes and hand sanitizer this time!
