Easter 2016

This is the 2nd great grandparent event right before Easter weekend.  Spencer's mother died on 29 Mar.2012, four years ago on the week just before Easter.  Then my father on March 21, 2016.  I kept wondering if there was a significance in this.  I don't know.  It seems that there is a lot of thoughts regarding the Resurrection  at this time so maybe there is.  But to keep things somewhat normal for the children, both times we continued the Easter egg hunt tradition.  So these next pictures are of this year's Easter hunt and the traditional Easter picture at our front porch as the head to the hunt.  Even Tyson says he's not too old yet.  I remember asking his mom, Jamie when she was a teen, if she was ready to quit hunting for eggs.  The answer was always a "NO".

After all is said and done and the dinner is eaten...

Hope you all had a Happy Easter!

Dad's Viewing, Funeral, Burial, Funeral Lunch

The Display

Jamie made a beautiful funeral display that honored dad's life.  The "theme" was music since dad was a Classical Music fan.  These are memories of dad's life interests and personal life experiences.

The Viewing

All the guys, minus 1...
 Mom and Dad

Friends from work, Heidi, mom and Ruth.

The Service

Unfortunately this was the only picture taken during the service.  There was an audio cd made by the funeral home and I of course taped it, as well.  But this was probably the most touching part of the service as the great grandchildren sang I am a Child of God.  First in English and then in German.  The poor kids could hardly sing as the faces probably show.  They cried through most of it.  And then Ty put his arm around his sister and they all kind of hugged.  It was so sweet and so touching.  A moment that I won't ever forget.

The Burial

Spencer and his broken ribs do not a good pallbearer make...

The Church Luncheon

Buying the Headstone

So we chose a stone and prepared the inscription and artwork.  Mom wanted the permanent vases and we got one for each side.  They will look like this one.  The stone is as the one above in shape and size and color.
