Grandma Grandpa Date Or, Out in the Country

Today was Swiss Days at Midway...Spence and I like to go there because its a lot of fun there and so out we went. 

The drive to Midway is really pretty and there are mountains, and farms and reservoirs and such to see.  It is really nice to be out on the land.

When you arrive at Midway for Swiss Days, you can expect a really large crowd of people.  No place to park, but they have a shuttle from the outskirts of town and take you for no charge to the town.  As we got there, the bus drops us off in front of the house where Spence had a part in a commercial inside an historic old Midway home.  Here above is the sign with details.  The older lady that owns the home is really nice and Spence likes to say hi to her.  But today there was clearly no one there.  He was a little disapointed, I think.  But there was still lots of things yet to see.

Here we are getting our 2012 calendars from Greg Olsen, who happily poses for our camera.  He actually remembered us from previous visits. 

Here is Ron Stutz, our friend, selling his wares at a booth, of which there are MANY by the way.  He makes Indian looking art on stone and wood.  Very nice.

Spence likes the artist Jon McNaughton and buys a print.  It is a "controversial" type print.  I bought a cute one, myself.  A Halloween picture.  Really like it.

We arrived just before 10:00 when the parade started.  It was a good time as the lines at the shuttle weren't too long and we got right on.  When we returned afterwards, the shuttle line was really, really long.  We will leave an hour earlier next year if we go again.  We think 2 hours is a long enough stay and then we will get home before the crowds arrive.

The ride home is nice.  It's a really beautiful day today.

And tomorrow is Sunday, then Labor Day and then another day back to work.  Vacations are so short...
