That Time of Year Again!

I have learned a lesson or two about getting garden plants.  First, that getting starts sometimes is MUCH better for us than just seeds.  Why, because in Highland, it's cold longer in the spring.  Sometimes we just get those babies popping up through the ground when the killer frost comes, and we start all over again.  With plants I seem to have better luck on that department.  Secondly, sometimes my seeds don't ever sprout.  I don't know why.  Once, twice, maybe a few more times I planted some seeds and Spence thought they were weeds sprouting and he cleaned them all up nicely...which is what he recently did with some iris starts I planted.  He thought it was a big weed or something.  I just can't win!
Today Tyson went with me and wanted to grow some plants.  So we went and he got strawberries and a lily plant.  We got on our gloves, dug and planted them nicely in pots.  Watered and then took them home.  He was so cute as we were talking and said that he was so happy that I was helping him learn a little about gardening.  He says he loves it.  He wants a corner of his family garden just for his own little crops.  He was proud as he could be as he took his plants home.  He is a keeper!
